Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG lug nut torque
Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG owner’s manuals give 133 lb-ft (180 N·m) for cars built 2012–2013 and 96 lb-ft (130 N·m) for cars built 2011. Check which applies to yours. Tighten them in a star pattern with a torque wrench.

Mercedes-Benz lists its owner’s manuals by the date the car was built, not by model year, so they’re listed that way here: each applies to cars built from the date shown. The month and year yours was built are on the label in the driver’s door frame. Read on Mercedes-Benz’s own site on October 23, 2026.
How to tighten them
- Clean any dirt or rust off the bolts and the wheel’s mounting face. Don’t oil them unless the manual says to.
- Thread every bolt in by hand until it seats against the wheel.
- Lower the vehicle so the tire takes its weight, and set a torque wrench to the value for your build date in the table above.
- Tighten the bolts in a star pattern, going around two or three times, until the wrench clicks on every bolt.
- Check the torque again after a short drive if your manual says to.
What the Mercedes-Benz manual adds
- Tighten the wheel bolts evenly in a crosswise pattern in the sequence indicated.
- Have the tightening torque immediately checked at a qualified specialist workshop after a wheel is changed.

Questions
What is the lug nut torque on a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG?
133 lb-ft (180 N·m) for cars built 2012–2013; 96 lb-ft (130 N·m) for cars built 2011, as printed in Mercedes-Benz’s owner’s manuals (built 2011–2013).
Can I use an impact wrench?
Not to finish. An impact wrench can’t set a torque and easily overshoots it, which stretches studs. Run the nuts down by hand or lightly, then finish with a torque wrench in a star pattern.
Should I oil the wheel bolts?
Not unless the manual says so. Torque values assume clean, dry threads; oil lets the same torque stretch the bolt further. Some manuals, Kia’s and Mazda’s among them, say to keep oil and grease off wheel nuts and bolts altogether.
